About Sunbelt
When Ed Pendarvis first joined the company in 1984 as a broker, Sunbelt was a single office operation in Charleston, S.C. Four years later he purchased the company and became the sole owner. In 1991, a partnership was formed to open an office in Greenville, S.C. This proved to be a successful venture and the partnership method was then used to open additional offices in Charlotte, N.C. and Spartanburg, S.C.

In 1993 Sunbelt developed a Uniform Franchise Offering Circular that was approved and the existing offices, with the exception of Charleston, were converted to franchises. That same year the United States Patent and Trademark office granted the Sunbelt Business Brokers trademark and the franchising program began in earnest.

Two years later, Sunbelt was honored for the first time as the Top Business Brokerage Franchise by Entrepreneur Magazine (January 95 issue). By that time the company had grown to a total of 35 franchises across the country. In 2000, Sunbelt began its expansion into the international market and opened franchises in Sao Paulo, Brazil; Bogota, Columbia; Santiago, Chile; Seoul, Korea; and Oslo, Norway.

In December of 2002, over 80 of the franchise owners bought the company in a friendly transaction.

In 2006, Sunbelt was sold to Merry Meeting, Inc. who operates several franchise companies. With increased support and financial backing the company is positioned for rapid growth. Ed Pendarvis remains with the company.

Today Sunbelt is the largest business brokerage franchise in the world. The company was honored for the fourteenth consecutive year as number one Business Brokerage Franchise by Entrepreneur Magazine in its Top 500 Franchises (January 08 issue). For more about Sunbelt click Here.


About Our Area
Dothan, located in the southeast corner of Alabama, enjoys a wonderful warm climate throughout the year. Dothan is only 80 miles from Panama City, Florida and the Gulf Coast. The city is also 20 miles from the Georgia and Florida state lines. Fort Rucker is less than 30 minutes away.

The population for the Dothan Metropolitan Statistical Area is 137,000. The population for the 50-mile radius including parts of Georgia and Florida is 513,000.


Dothan has a wide array of sports and performing arts venues. The recreation department has four recreation centers, a top southeastern championship tennis facility, 20 parks, 6 swimming pools and numerous fields for baseball, softball, soccer and football. Dothan boasts several golf courses including a Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at the Highlands, the Dothan Civic Center, the historic Dothan Opera House, the Wiregrass Museum of Art, theme parks with water, skating and recreation features, along with cinemas and bowling facilities.
